Compassionate and understanding support for all stages of the adoption journey.
Navigating adoption can be a complex and emotional experience. We offer specialized counselling services to support individuals, couples, and families through every stage of the adoption process.
Growing up as an adoptee, both my younger sister and I were adopted together. At the start it was a family unit with a mum and dad. Years later, it was a household of my mum being a single parent. Navigating from childhood, through teenagers’ years and adulthood is unique and challenging for many of us. Let alone with the misunderstanding in the story of adoption has been told by everyone except the person at the centre of it. The child(ren), their parents & family members. In other cases, the adoptee’s biological families.
As someone who has lived this journey, I know that adoption can be a constant grief that lingers. It is a lifelong lens. It can be the "genetic bewilderment" of not seeing your own face reflected in your kin. Or the hidden weight of wondering, and often unspoken pressure to be the "grateful children."
I hold this space because you shouldn't have to explain the basis of your own existence to your therapist. You deserve a place where your dual history is honoured, your grief is validated, and your autonomy is the priority.
